Commissaire Coordinator message
Good afternoon all,
I have picked up the responsibility of organising Commissaires for the 2019 race calendar in the SCNEG area.
The calendar has a requirement for approximately 33 individual Commissaire or Assistant Commissaire roles in the year and we have an active list of 8 Commissaires. The mathematically competent will recognise that we are therefore asking our Commissaire pool to volunteer their time on an average of 4 occasions next year. In 2018, one of the local Commissaires fulfilled the role on over 10 occasions. Without these trained volunteers, the SCNEG racing calendar will cease to exist.
The above being the case, it is essential that we increase the pool of Commissaires for future years. Training to become a Commissaire entails a one day BC led course and completion of at least 6 events as Trainee Commissaire. Colin Esslemont of Grampian Tigers completed his training in under 4 months last season (at great personal effort) but a more reasonable duration for training might be 9 to 18 months.
To get the process rolling, I intend to arrange a BC led course for Q1 2019 in the Aberdeen/Shire area. I would be most grateful if all clubs would encourage their members to consider committing to Commissaire training and submit names to me at their earliest convenience in order to secure the BC training resource expediently.
I will be in touch with the current pool of Commissaires and trainees in the near future to confirm availability for the 2019 calendar.
Your assistance with this would be very much appreciated.
I can be contacted via the below details for any questions, or to submit volunteer names.
